Terms of Service
The promises we make to you, the things we ask of you in return, and what happens when something goes sideways.
Last updated:
These terms apply when you request a quote, book a service, or receive work from BC Rug Care. Booking work with us means you agree to them.
1. What we do
We clean, restore, and care for area rugs, wall-to-wall carpet, upholstery, and mattresses. Some services happen on-site at your home or business; others (most rug work) happen at our facility after pickup. We’ll tell you which is which before we start.
2. Quotes and estimates
- We provide a written estimate before any work begins. The estimate is good for 30 days from issue.
- The final price can change if, after we inspect the rug in person, we find conditions that weren’t apparent from photos or your description (heavy pet contamination, dye-bleed risk, structural damage). We’ll discuss any change with you before proceeding.
- Estimates don’t include taxes unless stated.
3. What we promise
- We’ll do the work with care, using methods appropriate to your rug’s fibre and construction.
- We’ll be honest about what cleaning can and can’t achieve. Some stains lift fully. Some lighten significantly. A few don’t budge. We’ll tell you which to expect before you commit.
- We’ll insure your rug while it’s in our care.
- If we make a mistake we can fix, we’ll fix it at our cost. If you’re unsatisfied, tell us within 30 days and we’ll do what we reasonably can to make it right.
4. What we can’t promise
- Complete removal of every stain or odour. Cleaning is best-effort; certain damage is permanent.
- That a rug with pre-existing damage will leave us in better structural condition than it arrived. Cleaning can reveal hidden weaknesses (sun rot, moth tracks, foundation breaks) that weren’t visible before.
- That dye won’t bleed on certain antique or hand-dyed rugs even with our most conservative approach. We’ll dye-test before washing and discuss findings with you.
5. Cancellations and rescheduling
- For pickup or in-home appointments: please give 24 hours’ notice. Cancellations inside that window may incur a $50 fee to cover the booked time and travel.
- Once a rug is at our facility and work has started, the agreed estimate stands. If you change your mind before work starts, you’re only responsible for pickup & delivery costs.
6. Payment
- Payment is due on completion of the work, before rug delivery or at the end of an on-site appointment.
- We accept e-transfer, credit card, and cash. Outstanding balances over 30 days may accrue interest at 1.5% per month (18% per year).
7. Limits of liability
We carry general liability insurance and our work is performed with reasonable care. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from work we perform is limited to the amount you paid us for that specific service. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or punitive damages.
Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights as a consumer under British Columbia law.
8. Photos and testimonials
We may take before/after photos of work we do, for our records and (with your permission) for marketing. We won’t publish anything identifying you or your home without explicit consent.
9. Disputes and governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the laws of Canada applicable there. Any dispute will be resolved in BC courts. We’d much rather work it out over the phone — please reach out to us first at info@bcrugcare.ca or 604-XXX-XXXX.
10. Updates
We’ll update the date at the top of this page if anything changes materially. The version on the site at the time you book is the version that applies to that booking.
