Service
Rug repair and restoration — keep what you have.
Fringe rebinding, edge re-binding, moth-damage rewefting, small reweaves, and general structural stabilization. We handle the work we can in-house and refer the major reweaving out.
What this service includes
In-house rug repair for fringe, edges, and moderate moth or wear damage. Major pile reconstruction referred to a Vancouver specialist we trust.
- Fringe rebinding (the most common repair) — restore the cotton or wool fringe edge
- Edge re-binding (selvage repair) — restore the side-edge wrap that prevents unraveling
- Small reweaves and patch repairs
- Moth-damage stabilization — clean the area, weft-replace small voids
- Foundation patches for small holes
- Surge-binding for cuts or major edge damage
- Coordination with cleaning (often done together)
- Referral to specialist for major pile reconstruction
Our process
How the work actually happens
- 1
1. Assessment
We photograph the damage, measure it, and confirm whether it’s within our scope or needs a specialist. Most fringe and edge work is in-scope. Significant pile reconstruction (rebuilding several square inches of knotted pile across the foundation) is referred out to a Vancouver specialist with whom we’ve worked for years.

2. Coordination with cleaning
Most repair customers also need the rug cleaned. We typically clean first, then repair, because cleaning often reveals additional damage that should inform repair scope. The exception: if the rug is actively unraveling, we stabilize first then clean.

3. The repair itself
Fringe and edge work happens at our facility with materials matched to the original rug — cotton fringe for cotton-foundation rugs, wool for wool. Reweaves are hand-done with the closest available yarn match. We aim for invisible repairs from a few feet away; up close, repairs are detectable to an expert but not jarring.

4. Final inspection and care recommendations
After repair we walk through the work with you, identify any care recommendations (e.g., "rotate this side away from the sun"), and discuss whether the rug needs additional pad or underlay to reduce future stress.
How we price this
We don’t publish per-square-foot rates because they oversimplify. Price depends on fibre, size, condition, and whether any repair is involved. After we hear from you, you get a written estimate within one business day. The estimate stands unless we find something at pickup that changes the scope — and if we do, we tell you before doing any extra work.
